Ecoolska
Ecoolska, or rather should we say Eco-Oslka, a fashion brand by Oslka Green, an eco-activist fashion
designer who is ruling the digital runways by her phygital fashion.
For those of you who are yet to discover what phygital fashion is: Phygital = Physical + Digital. The
brand creates an exact real-life digital replica of their physical clothing designs that can be bought to
be placed on one’s digital photographs (so that it appears to be worn) or for one’s own digital
avatars, thus, cutting down on overproduction and overconsumption of physical clothing that cause
landfills but, at the same time, making everyone look stylish in the digital world. The brand even has
its very own virtual showroom for their digital designs and also present them across multiple digital
fashion shows. If this is something that has tickled your interest, then you can head on Ecoolska’s
YouTube channel to explore their digital fashion videos.
Their quote, ‘Leave your mark in history, not a carbon footprint’ is clearly justified by their eco-
sustainable upcycled and digital collections and physical collections made out of linen, recycled
cotton, organic cotton, recycled polyester, Tencel, eco-friendly viscose, recycled Refibra and even
eucalyptus and algae!
Now without further ado, we dive into this exclusive interview of the fashion innovator’s phygital
brand:
Who is the founder of Ecoolska?
Olska Green is a founder and fashion designer of one of the first sustainable phygital brands
in the world Ecoolska based in Portugal. Polska Green is a fashion innovator and eco activist.
The main mission for her is to transform the fashion industry into a sustainable and digital
one.
What is Olska’s background in the fashion industry?
Olska has always been interested in fashion, ever since she was a child. She remembers
spending hours drawing and designing clothes, and as she grew up, that passion only grew
stronger. But her passion was not only for fashion, but for innovations. It wasn't until she
started exploring the potential of digital fashion that she found a way to combine her two
passions. Her style is a mix of provocative futuristic sport eclectic with a focus on recycling,
innovative materials, biodegradable athleisure and futuristic designs.
What gap did you find in the fashion market that led to the creation of Ecoolska?
The inspiration behind launching Ecoska was to create a brand that embodies sustainability,
innovation and technology. She loves nature very much and wants to save this incredible
beauty! Nature, great people, art, and innovations are big inspirations for Olska! She uses
technology to create clothes that are not only beautiful, but also sustainable, innovative,
stylish and functional. She believes that fashion has the power to make a positive impact on
the environment, and she wanted to be a part of that change.
What type of fashion does Ecoolska represent?
We combine 3 directions: physical fashion (activewear made from sustainable fabrics),
exclusive upcycling collection created in the heart of Milan, and digital fashion.
What are the core brand pillars of Ecoolska?
Take care about the planet and make fashion sustainable.
Tell us more about digital fashion and how do you work with it?
Our design and creation process begins from inspiration, research and experimentation. We
start by exploring different materials and techniques, and then use digital tools to create 3D
models of our designs. We use AI for creating digital sketches to speed up the design process
and have pre-orders from customers. We like to work both ways: to create unique upcycled
collections by hand in the atelier in Milan and also create innovative sportswear collections
that we sew in Portugal. We also like to create digital fashion shows with 3D avatars and
create digital clothes for Metaverse and digital marketplaces. Sometimes we create 3D
sketches in VR glasses - such a great unleashing creativity! From there, Olska can refine and
adjust the designs until they are perfect.
What made you explore the field of digital fashion?
Digital fashion is important today because it has the potential to revolutionize the industry in
terms of sustainability, innovation, and creativity. With the rise of fast fashion and its
negative impact on the environment, it's more important than ever to explore new ways of
creating clothing that are both stylish and sustainable. 3D design has a huge role to play in
sustainability within the fashion industry. It allows designers to create and test virtual
prototypes, reducing the need for physical samples and production. It also allows for more
efficient use of materials, as designers can optimize designs to reduce waste. Going forward,
I believe that 3D design will become an increasingly important tool for sustainable fashion.
Digital fashion can reduce overconsumption and overproduction at least 10% or may be
more in the future. It also opens up new possibilities for customization and personalization
and have pre-orders from buyers and customers before production.
Where do you display your digital fashion and how can people buy and use it?
Our Digital fashion is represented at DressX, Zero10, Ntzn, Metaverse Spatial, Zepeto,
Decentraland, Artisant. People can buy it straight at the website and use it for the photos or
clothes for their avatars in the Metaverse.
What do you offer in your physical clothing line?
Sustainable seamless activewear sets and unique upcycling outfits.
10. How do you source and produce your activewear and what makes them eco-sustainable?
We get our activewear sewn in Portugal only from certified eco suppliers. Right now, we
work with Tencel Company and Fulgar company, using Lyocell and Amni Soul Eco for our
sportswear.
What makes Ecoolska better than its competitors?
We are a phygital brand: we combine physical and digital fashion! We have our own 3D
avatar, and we can show how to be stylish without harming our planet!
Who are your target customers and how do you aim to make them aware of Ecoolska?
Our target audience is Generation Z and we have a great PR strategy. Right now we are
partnering with the biggest marketplaces (Zalando, Otto) in Europe and the biggest
Metaverse.
Which fashion weeks and shows have you presented the brand and where can we see you in
the near future?
We have already premiered 3 digital fashion shows with 3D avatars: first at International
Digital Fashion Week, second at New York Digital Fashion Week, and third at London Fashion
Week. We have already listed our digital fashion clothes for avatars in Decentraland
Metaverse, Zepeto Metaverse and we have our own Virtual Penthouse with 3D fashion
garments in Spatial Metaverse. We will participate in Metaverse Fashion Week at the end of
March 2023!
What is the vision and mission of the brand?
Our mission: Change the fashion industry to an eco-friendly, digital and transparent one via
creation of an ecosystem of sustainable innovative Phygital products that reduce
overconsumption and overproduction. To give people eco-alternatives: sustainable and
digital fashion. We want to make people fashionable, happy and not harmful for the
environment not only in real life but also in virtual.
Finally, which market places, stores and platforms can buyers find you on?
Zalando, Otto, Aboutyou for physical wear.
We can, without a doubt, say that the concepts of Ecoolska will pave the path towards a better
planet for the future generations and this Portugal based fashion brand is sure to take the digital
fashion world by storm.
